Postdoctoral Positions

Postdoctoral positions are available to study the molecular mechanisms underlying the functional properties of voltage-gated potassium channels and the functional role these channels in the heart and nervous system

Postdoctoral positions are available to study the molecular mechanisms underlying the functional properties of voltage-gated potassium channels and the functional role these channels in the heart and nervous system.
 
Our focus is on the Kv11 (or ‘ERG’) family of potassium channels. One of our reasons for studying these channels is their role in human disease.
 
Mutations in human ERG channels cause cardiac arrhythmias and ERG channels were also recently linked to mental illness. Other projects in the lab are focused on mechanisms for restoring function to mutated, disease-causing human ERG channels.
 
Our studies use molecular biology, protein chemistry, electrophysiology and fluorescence imaging. A Ph.D. in Physiology or a related field is required.
