In addition to his wide array of administrative duties, Mr. Thomas McHugh is the primary point of contact for the Program in Life Sciences at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine.
Working in conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies, Graduate Program Directors and our outstanding group of Program Coordinators, Mr. McHugh responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily program operations
- Spearheading recruiting and advertising efforts
- Managing and supervising the payroll for all of our graduate students
- Developing the budgets for our graduate programs, including approving finances, tracking expenditures, preparing reports on current finances and negotiating contracts and terms with vendors
- Assisting our graduate programs with the planning and coordination of daily and long range plans/ activities of the program, including yearly Symposium, Retreat, Professor Rounds and Seminar Series
- Preparing grant reports, proposals and renewals
- Identifying and pursuing outside funding, including sponsorships for symposia, retreats and seminars
- Designing and administering our program web sites and secure intranet site
He has also developed several new initiatives regarding our marketing/recruiting strategies, storage and application of data, website and the electronic dissemination of information via a secure Intranet.
Currently Mr. McHugh is pursuing an M.P.A.. degree at the University of Baltimore.
