Who Should Apply
Eligible candidates will hold the Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Dental Surgery or equivalent degree from a medical or dental school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or equivalent body. Alternatively they will hold the equivalent degree from a foreign institution and will have passed the appropriate US licensing examinations. Eligible candidates will be enrolled in an accredited residency or fellowship program or have been admitted to a fellowship at a University of Maryland institution. A passing score on part one of the United States Medical Licensing Examination or equivalent examination will also be required in lieu of the Graduate Record Examination. Candidates will submit an official transcript from the institution that granted their MD, DDS or equivalent degree, USMLE (or equivalent examination) scores, and three letters of recommendation. The Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) may be substituted for these records. The Program Admissions/Advisory Committee, composed of University of Maryland, Baltimore faculty members who are members of one or more Graduate Program in Life Sciences (GPILS) programs, will interview candidates and select them for admission.
