Director of Graduate Education
Mary Kay Lobo, PhD
Our current director of graduate education is Dr. Mary Kay Lobo, Associate Professor in Anatomy and Neurobiology. Her research on the molecular neurocircuitry underlying mood disorders and drug addiction flourishes, evidenced by her being an awardee of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) in 2017 and the 4 RO1s by which she is currently funded. As such, she serves as a powerful role model for students starting their research careers.
Likewise, Mary Kay has brought her ability to achieve and innovate to the position of Director of Graduate Education with equal intensity. She has impressively managed to bring new ideas to fruition as the Program enters its 25th year.
While under her watch, the Program has offered 2 new nanocourses – Neuromethods and Intro to Coding and Logic - in an effort to better meet the cutting edge educational needs of PIN students.
Student accomplishments continue to shine under her direction with an increase in student authored publications coupled with a decrease in time to graduation rate. Mary Kay cultivates an environment in which students can flourish and pursue their goals while she, as their director, remains completely approachable. Her level of service truly makes a powerful impact upon the culture here at PIN.
