How to Apply


The Fall 2019 Application is open! Applications are reviewed and offers of admission are made on a rolling basis. It is highly suggested that all documentation and materials are submitted as early as possible. Please note the following deadlines for starting the program in the Fall 2019:

Priority Application Deadline: April 1, 2019*

Final Application Deadline: June 1, 2019

*International Applicants are encouraged to have everything submitted by this date.

Application
Begin your official application through the Graduate School.

  • Select 'Cellular and Molecular Biomedical Science' as the program

Personal Statement
Should be uploaded or included with the online application (SURFS). The statement should be between 300-500 words and outline your goals and objectives in pursuing graduate study.

Transcripts
An official transcript from every institution previously attended or currently attending must be submitted in a sealed envelope, as prepared by the sending institution. Electronic transcripts from University System of Maryland institutions will be accepted in lieu of official, sealed transcript.

Test Scores
Use the following codes for sending TOEFL and GRE score reports:

  • GRE - Institution code 5848; Program code 0206
  • TOEFL - University code 5848; Department code 45

Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must provide three (3) letters of recommendation from professors or others who can attest to the quality of their academic performance and scholastic potential. Please send this link http://cf.umaryland.edu/graduate/letter_of_recommendation/ to your recommenders and ask them to select "Cellualar & Molecular Biomed Sci (MS)" from the drop-down menu. 

Resume or CV
Applicants must provide a Resume or CV, which may be uploaded as part of the online application.

Application for In-State Status Classification (Maryland residents only) - If you wish to be considered for “in-state” residency status for admission and tuition purposes you must complete an Application for In-State Classification and submit it to the Office of the Registrar at registrar@umaryland.edu

Funding is not provided for students admitted into the MS program. However, you may qualify for federal, state, and/or institutional aid at UMB. Please see the Student Financial Aid website for eligibility and possible sources of funding.
