Meet Anicca Harriot

Harriot Anicca

‌Molecular Biology and Biochemistry PhD student, Anicca Harriot, decided at an early age that she wanted to be an astronaut and cardiovascular surgeon. When her father suggested that she one day study the heart in space, it ignited a passion that she would relentlessly pursue throughout her adolescence and into adulthood. At just 21 years old, Harriot has already interned at both NASA-Langley and Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. While pursing her doctoral degree full time, she also volunteers for the live web-series VanguardSTEM and the urban movement #popscope. Harriot hopes to one day be the first black woman to walk on Mars.  Read more about Harriot's journey.
