During the pursuit of their degrees, our students enjoy the benefits of a rigorous yet cutting-edge curriculum and training program. Our faculty members take mentoring seriously and view the development of our students as one of the most important contributing factors to the success of their respective research missions. Plainly put: our student researchers are highly valued and respected.

In keeping with this philosophy, our students enjoy a wide range of career development activities, seminars and workshops that are vital to achieving success in today’s career market. Career development opportunities include an alumni careers seminar series, workshops on grant writing, publication submissions, effectively presenting your research, developing a CV, interviewing and negotiation skills, and how to differentiate yourself in the marketplace. The Graduate Program in Life Sciences also provides a novel and interactive research ethics training program.

While on campus, our students enjoy a high success rate in securing their own grants and publishingfirst-author publications in top-tier journals. Traveling to relevant conferences and eventually presenting at these conferences is also a key part in the development of student researchers.

Our graduates obtain postdoctoral positions in prestigious labs or secure careers in a wide range of areas including governmental agencies, private biotech and pharmaceutical companies, venture capital firms, academic policy and administration, patent law, scientific writing and editing, consulting, and more.
