Jenn Aumiller, PhD, MEd, Director of GPILS/OPS Career and Professional Development and the Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Scholars at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Blessing Enekwe, PhD, Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at the University of Maryland College Park are offering a four-part mini-series, "Mentoring Workshops for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows," for postdocs and graduate students in the biomedical and population health sciences.

This series of discussions is part of the Entering Mentoring Series which was developed at the University of Wisconsin, Madison by Pfund, House, Asquith, Spencer, Silet, and Sorkness. The content of each session is designed to address the key concerns and challenges identified by research mentors that train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

These sessions would be beneficial to any student and postdoctoral fellow to better understand the mentoring relationship and also to prepare for becoming a mentor in the future.

Did you know that our alumni identified Informational Interviews as one of the most important career development tools? Join us for a practical and engaging seminar on how to use informational interviews to support your career exploration and professional growth. This session will cover:

  • What informational interviews are and why they’re valuable for career development and networking
  • How to identify and approach potential interviewees using resources from the Career Development Office and beyond
  • Common questions to ask during an informational interview and how to make the most of the conversation

This seminar is recommended for students at all stages of their training as well as postdoctoral scholars. We look forward to supporting you as you build confidence and connections in your career journey.
