MINISTP will start organizing a slate of academic activities in late fall of 2026 as the new T32 program gets underway. A key component is an Integrative Course On Neuro-Immune Communication (ICONIC) that is planned to kickoff in fall 2027.
Secondly, to motivate trainees to build comfort with computational tools, MINISTP includes a “SkillBuilder” program where they can work with a secondary mentor (see Skill Builder mentors below) to develop an objective-oriented bioinformatics project to complete. Please email the program directors to express interest and get updates as the programming is onboarded.
Computational "Skillbuilder" Mentors
MINISTP trainees will have the option to partner with experts in computational biology and bioinformatics to actively develop these skills with year-long mentored “side-projects”. Trainees can meet with the Program Directors and a coordinating team at IGS (Seth Ament, PhD, Brian R. Herb, PhD) to identify suitable projects relevant to their research interests and mentoring teams.
