Training Faculty

The initial faculty members participating in MINISTP are listed below. For onboarding additional mentors, please contact the program directors. As one objective of the program is to encourage “bridge building” between strong Immunology and Neuroscience research teams at UMB, we list the faculty based on their primary research strengths – Immunology, Neuroscience or Clinical Neuroimmunology.

We strongly encourage trainees to consider dual mentors, combining complementary expertise in both topics as suited to individual projects. The program directors are available to consult on this “match-making” and facilitate conversations.

Computational "Skillbuilder" Mentors

MINISTP trainees will have the option to partner with experts in computational biology and bioinformatics to actively develop these skills with year-long mentored “side-projects”. Trainees can meet with the Program Directors and a coordinating team at IGS (Seth Ament, PhD, Brian R. Herb, PhD) to identify suitable projects relevant to their research interests and mentoring teams.
